You may have used story maps in the past as a reading or analysis tool for studying short stories. As part of your study for this unit, you initially defined the various rungs along the Freytag Pyramid. This structure can also be used as a prewriting tool to help you think about the progression of your story. It is the standard formula by which all short stories are written. Whether you always follow it or eventually break it, as a writer you need to be familiar with it.
