You have been tasked to evaluate process optimisation through the use of PVT diagram as a method of process improvement in the polymer processing industry.
- Initially, describe the use of PVT diagrams and comment why they are implemented within an industrial application.
- You have been presented with processing data from two experiments (Table 1 & Table 2) using two different materials. Plot a PVT graph with each data set and comment on the structure of the material used in both experiments. Clearly identify on the graph characteristics that support your claims.
- Table 3 contains data from a Part Weight vs Holding Pressure Time experiment. Identify on the graph the optimum holding time for the process. In addition, what effect would too short or too long a holding pressure have on the process.
