To meet the interests of the reader or stakeholder initially, researchers use design as a key strategy for demonstrating the value and quality of the work in an action research project. As a social worker, performing action research, communicating your research process, creating a narrative that encompasses your experiences, and reporting the outcomes of your study are critical factors in demonstrating the success of your research.
In addition, your report should illustrate the conclusions reached and provide recommendations for solving the problem. Each stakeholder group has specific interests attached to an action research study, and it is your role as the action researcher to speak directly to those individual interests in the report.
Review “Ways of Organizing Experimental and Interpretive Research Reports” (p.173) in the Stringer required reading and “Alternative Research Report Structure” (p. 185) from the Action Research coursetext of Stringer in the required reading. For this week’s Discussion, you will examine three different stakeholder groups: the agency where you work, your Walden Faculty supervisors/thesis committee, and the funding source for your project. You will analyze how you would alter the focus of the report to target each stakeholder group.
You will create a chart to compare the reports created for each stakeholder group. Consider the following questions:
How would you introduce the study?
Would you include specific examples or a general account of your discoveries during the investigation?
What portion of your findings should you focus on for this stakeholder group?
What research or literature would you include to support your findings?
Why is it important to focus your report for the given stakeholder group?
